Virginia UMPJE study guide

Which law exam Virginia uses

Beginning October 1, 2026, both initial and transfer applicants must pass the UMPJE, and the Virginia MPJE is no longer offered [S1]. NABP lists Virginia's UMPJE start as September 1, 2026 and its MPJE retirement as September 30, 2026 [S2]; the Board's notice uses October 1 [S1].

Virginia rules worth knowing

  • CE (18VAC110-21-120). 15 contact hours every year, at least 3 of them live or real-time interactive. Extra hours do not carry forward. Up to 2 hours can come from unpaid service at a local health department or free clinic [S3].
  • PMP. Covered substances are reported within 24 hours or by the dispenser's next business day. Non-resident pharmacies report dispensing to Virginia residents [S4].
  • Technician supervision (18VAC110-20-112), 1:4. A pharmacist may supervise no more than four people doing technician duties at one time [S5].
